It was not bad enough that safe recreational activities are being banned by the kind of communist cosplaying government officials who’s totalitarian response to the recent crisis allowed their secret Stalinist aspirations to finally come out of the closet. Now we have private companies playing into the hands of these megalomaniacs by telling their customers what is good for us despite plenty of evidence to the contrary.

Case in point being Surfline, the surf break camera and forecast service that has apparently fallen head over heels in love for the Control Left social control grid based out of the failed state of Commiefornia. The good news is that I live in a place with alternatives like Surf News Network, and while they are not as sophisticated at least they are still giving actual reports. You know, the things I paid for with my Surfline subscription which they are now refusing to provide “for my own good”.

Goodbye subcutlure, hello nanny state.

It is an increasing disturbing trend how censorship and Big Brother Knows Best has spread throughout the technosphere like wildfire with everyone from Google to your local news sources jumping on the train to Managedville. I am sure at some point they will find it best to secure us with bar code tattoos and scannable microchip to “fight the virus”, because it makes about as much sense as many of the current restrictions and fits their narrative of compassionate dominance.

But in the meantime I am feeling a little burned, especially after forking out hundreds if not thousands of dollars to a service that seems to exempt itself from the common decency of offering at least a partial refund or discount in exchange for cutting back its services. According to them our freedom is flexible, but their bottom line is not. My guess is they have also asked for bailout money at this point like the rest of the Silicon Valley Socialist Syndicate.

Yeah this is a first world rant, but it demonstrates how quickly the liberal moral superiority crowd can turn into cheerleaders for the Police State. Even our most cherished antihero institutions are not safe.
